Greater Milwaukee Committee's Julia Taylor among artists supporting Islands of Brilliance
Julia Taylor thought she would make her living as an artist.
She always enjoyed drawing. As a high school student, she drew portraits for $25 at the county fair, then graduated with a minor in art from Ball State University. Now, the president of the Greater Milwaukee Committee is showcasing her talents on stage as one of four artists featured at a fundraiser for Islands of Brilliance.
The nonprofit organization serves children and young adults on the autism spectrum with project-based learning to help participants improve their independent living skills. On Friday, Islands of Brillance is scheduled to host its fourth annual Colors & Chords event. During the fundraiser, which will be held at the Turner Hall Ballroom, four artists – including Taylor – will each create a piece live on stage to musicians’ accompaniment.
