On February 21, 2018, we lost a dedicated and thoughtful member of our community, Francis R. Croak. Fran is greatly missed as a member of the GMC, and a long term supporter of Bradley Tech. His passion for education within our community will live on through a perpetual scholarship fund for Bradley Tech students, established by the Bradley Tech Foundation, administered by the Greater Milwaukee Committee.
The goal of the scholarship is to honor two Bradley Tech High School graduates per year in their quest for continuing education. With an increase in enrollment, and nearly 200 students receiving college credit for their work, we know we can impact the educational journey of graduates with this scholarship. I am pleased to announce that we received the first funding commitment of $20,000 from the Pettit Foundation. In order to build a sustainable scholarship opportunity for Bradley Tech graduates, we are looking to create a fund of $50,000.
Bradley Tech is growing stronger each year, with advances in math and literacy, a decreased suspension rate, and higher participation in the dual enrollment programs. With a school culture and programs promoting continuing education, this scholarship will make that opportunity possible for two deserving students, annually.
The growth of education in our community is as important as ever. We are pleased to report that Bradley Tech now has 151 industry partners, allowing for 698 work-based learning experiences, and 75 internships. Through the establishment of the Francis R. Croak Scholarship Fund, we can carry out the mission of Bradley Tech: “In conjunction with Milwaukee Public Schools, we welcome all of our students and prepare them for success in higher education, post-educational opportunities, work, and citizenship.”
