Aided by global reach, auto supplier Adient eyes diversification, CEO tells GMC

On Oct. 31, 2016, Johnson Controls spun off its automotive division, which had driven the company’s growth since the mid-1980s, accounting for as much as 75 percent of the company's gross revenue as recently as 2014. After months of working through a wide range of highly complex issues, a new company emerged: Adient PLC, which, while not yet 1-year old, remains the global leader in automotive seating.
